Pre & Post Care

Permanent Makeup Pre Care

Proper prep helps ensure the best possible healed results. Please follow these guidelines in the days leading up to your appointment:

1 week before:

– Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and chemical peels.

– Pause use of active skincare ingredients (retinoids, exfoliants, acids) near the treatment area.

– Stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturized.

48 hours before:

– Avoid excessive alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (like ibuprofen or aspirin).

– Do not tint, wax, or thread the area.

***If you’re prone to cold sores and receiving a lip treatment, begin your antiviral medication (consult with your doctor for a prescription like Valtrex).***

Day of your appointment:

– Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotions, or SPF on the treatment area.

– Be ready to relax—this is your time!

Permanent Makeup Post Care

The healing process is just as important as the procedure itself. Here’s how to insure the best results:

For the first 5-7 days:

– Keep the area clean and dry—no water (except during your daily cleanse), sweat, or steam.

– Avoid activities that cause sweating, including workouts, swimming, saunas, and long hot showers. During the summer months, try to limit outdoor exposure, as heat and humidity can interfere with proper healing. Excess moisture softens the skin and can prevent pigment from implanting correctly, which may result in premature fading and the need for additional follow-up appointments.

– Apply only the healing ointment provided using clean hands or a cotton swab. Less is more.

– Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the treated area as it flakes or peels.

Avoid for 7-14 days:

– Direct sun exposure, heavy sweating and saunas.

Ongoing care:

– Always wear SPF to extend the life of your permanent makeup.

– Avoid resurfacing treatments (lasers, peels) directly over the tattooed area.

– A touch-up session is required 6–8 weeks after your initial appointment.
